Major General Lafayette, hero of the American Revolution and a member of The Society of the Cincinnati. Lafayette visited western Pennsylvania in 1825 and spent time with his foster brother, Dr. Felix Brunot, who lived on Brunot's Island immediately upriver from today's Neville Island. Presley Neville served as one of the Marquis de Lafayette's aides-de-camp between 1778 and 1781.
